•    What is included in my entry fee?
For your entry fee you receive event entry, Green Belter goody pack, including special edition tech tee, access to the Rat Rewards discount programme for other events, discount voucher at RatRaceStore.com, electronic timing and all equipment needed for kayaking. We do not provide bikes (although you can hire one from us if you wish).

•    Are the events always the same?
Yes and no. The format is always the same, allowing you to get “into the saddle” so to speak with what happens at a Green Belter. But each venue has its own particular character and some challenges and features are unique to each venue. We have provided specific venue info on each location to show you what is in store, which can be viewed by clicking the relevant icons here.

•    Is this a triathlon?
No. It is a multi-sport adventure and it is similar to a triathlon in that it uses different sports all mixed into the same event, with a “transition” between each discipline occurring as you switch from foot to bike to boats. Unlike a Triathlon, there is no swimming in this event.. It is more like an adventure race and most of the event occurs in a rugged, off-road setting. Although you might use sections of quiet lanes for some of the course, much of it is on trails, forest tracks and country paths.

•    Do I need to read a map?
No. But it helps. You will be given Belter Brief event instructions and there might be some mapping in these to help you understand where you are and where the course goes. The course is fully waymarked. We endeavour to mark the course at very frequent intervals, and especially at the turns, but sometimes waymarks can be tampered with by members of the public. For this reason, keep the event map with you, and work together with other participants to resolve your position and continue on course.

•    Can I do this on my own?
Yes you can. There are classes for solos or pairs; the latter can be single sex or mixed.

•    Can I enter as an all-female team?
You can – no probs.

•    I see there is kayaking. What if I have not kayaked?
Don’t worry. We feature kayaking in the events because it’s fun, it’s usually something a bit different for folks and it can be refreshing to be out on (or in!) the water. The boats we use are very stable and easy to paddle and where kayaking is featured, it is in a controlled environment with plenty of safety cover. Enjoy it!

•    What kit do I need for this event?

You will need general sports kit, a backpack to put any extra clothes/ snacks/ water in and you will need a mountain bike. You can hire one of these from us if you wish. Click here for more details on bike hire and general kit info.
